Why we are the best

Our Holy Land Tours are our family specialty and the personalized Tours we offer are truly second to none!

We have been learning about, studying, and orchestrating impactful Holy Land Tours for over forty years and feel we have mastered the experience with YOUR best interest at heart.

Our father A. Gary Anderson was director at the BYU Jerusalem Center for Near Eastern Studies on two separate occasions (1977 and 1986) which allowed the entire Anderson Family two entire semesters to learn about the culture, history, language, and ways of the Middle East. This was only the beginning of our involvement and study of Jerusalem and its surroundings.

Two of the Anderson boys; Clark & Ron would not only follow their father professionally in teaching Seminary and Institute and continue on the tradition of directing Tours to the Holy Land, but it has become their passion!

Some History

In 1997 the Anderson brothers launched their maiden voyage Tour to Israel under the name Shalom Tours. It was a smashing success and as they repeated that Tour experience and added Egypt and Petra to the lineup, it has improved and refined itself in impact over the decades of refinement and polishing.

Our passion has been to provide at every site the most powerful experience possible in order to understand the scriptures, feel the Power of Place, and to further cement participants relationship with their Savior and Creator.

The company name was changed to its current name, Anderson Tours in the year 2000. From 1997 until now we have operated well over 60 amazing tours to the Holy Land! Ask any who have come with us and they will verify that the Anderson Tours experience is indeed second to none.

Why We Are the Best

It comes down to 3 main things; 1. Group sizes are small and personal, 2. the comprehensive nature of our Tours (which includes retracing the Life of Christ chronologically, reliving the first part of the Book of Mormon, Petra, and climbing Mt Sinai, plus the wonders of Egypt and Temple insights) 3. Our experience in teaching in the Holy Land greatly impacts YOUR experience, especially the relationships built by our directors since 1977. This impacts the experience more than can be described, especially for travel in the Middle East.

Can you name one other individual who has been to the Holy Land and climbed Mt Sinai over 65 times with the sole intention of improving the Holy Land Tour experience and who has developed the relationship with locals since 1977 and who maintains those relationships regularly (through visits) to ensure safety, support, and impact to Tour participants? This is precisely what Dr. Clark Anderson (and Dr. Ron Anderson) have done. It makes a difference!

Why People Choose Anderson Tours

One of the most significant reasons people choose Anderson Tours for their Holy Land experience is group size. We have learned that the impact of the experience is best when done in a small, manageable group where participants can have a personalized experience and not one that is large and impersonal. Anderson Tours will maximize the participants experience and maintain that as its focus throughout instead of maximizing their profits by cutting corners and taking large groups which compromises the impact of the experience (we limit to one bus load).

YOUR experience will be enhanced by OUR experience and by OUR keeping YOUR experience as our greatest honor and privilege! The motives of the providers cannot be overstated in terms of YOUR experience in the Holy Land. OUR focus in on YOU and YOUR Holy Land experience! It will change your life in all the right ways.

Temple Insights

Lastly, we offer an unparalleled experience of exploring the ancient ruins and Temples in Egypt. This experience will forever change your personal Temple experience. The Andersons have made Temples and Egyptian Temples a focus of their expertise and deliver an unparalleled experience in Egypt that is sure to enhance and strengthen your conviction of the Temple Endowment and its origin and impact.

You will not get the same experience with another group! Years of study in Egypt have led to the insights we are able to provide!

NOW is a Great Time

Now is a really unique and wonderful time to visit the Holy Land! We would love to have you join us on a life changing experience to the Holy Land.

With our small groups, space is limited and we encourage early registration. Please visit with those who have gone with us in the past to get an idea of the variety of ways it will impact your life. Enjoy the safety of our Holy Land Tour and if it is on your bucket list we invite you to make it a reality this year while it is still possible!

We hope you will strongly consider joining us for one of our tour offerings to the Holy Land. Each Tour is carefully crafted in order for you to maximize your sacred visit and pilgrimage to the Holy Land! No one provides a better experience! We humbly guarantee it!

Why So Small?

We have chosen to keep our Tour groups small for good reason. You may not have ever heard about us because we have not invested in lavish marketing. We have been satisfied operating under word of mouth which has allowed us to keep our groups small and personal (something that makes a HUGE difference in your Holy Land experience). Our focus has been on delivering intense quality over mass quantity.

Quality over Quantity

We know from our Study Abroad experiences and living in the Holy Land and also our years of learning and teaching onsite, what makes for the most impactful experience to learn and feel the impact of the Power of Place in the Holy Land and on Church History and other scriptural sites.

What drives our Tour experience is the impact it will have on YOU (the participant) and not on anything else (except safety). We are not interested in being a big popular company and entity, our passion is to deliver the very best experience possible...an even better experience that we have ever had visiting sacred sites.

Our Holy Land Tours

They come with a personal touch from a Tour Itinerary has been carefully crafted and developed for over 4 decades now and we feel strongly that it is the very best on the market. We have learned the do’s and don’ts and how to maximize each day and every site visited, in what order, and what and how to present on site.

We realize that your experience in the Holy Land may be a “one and only” for you and we want you to have THE very best experience possible! We don’t cut corners but maximize YOUR experience every time!

Unique Tour Extensions

Another reason you should experience the Holy Land with the Andersons is the Tour extension options that we offer. We offer our participants the option of visiting Petra, Mt. Sinai, the Red Sea, and the wonders of Egypt!

Our first tour extension option is a visit to one of the newly voted “Wonders of the World”, Petra, Jordan. This is a magnificent experience that should be on everyone’s bucket list.

We are the only ones that make the effort to travel to and climb Mt. Sinai. This is something every pilgrim should do as part of their Holy Land pilgrimage and is always one of the highlights for our participants! What a powerful experience to climb up this ancient Temple!

Included in this portion is some time snorkeling and deep sea diving in the Red Sea which is one of THE very best places to do so in the World. (It is currently ranked in the top 5 locations in the world for snorkeling).

Safety and Security

We have mastered the Holy Land Tour experience in its totality and are pleased to offer tours for all ages. With recent political unrest in the region we take great lengths to ensure that each of our Tour experiences are protected and safe. We will not operate a tour unless we feel confident that we can do so safely and confidently for all involved.

Judging the safety of the experience is best defined and determined by those in country who live there and are responsible for the safety of the group. They would NOT offer to sponsor our group if they had significant concerns about our experience and our safety. With forty years of experience in the area we have learned to trust their assessments and recommendations.

A Family Legacy

While Anderson Tours is a family legacy the concept was created and developed by Clark (7th child) and with Ron's (oldest child) directing help for the first 10 years. These two would build the onsite teaching legacy modeled by their father Gary. Brothers Hal (2nd child) and Kim (5th child) would also contribute greatly in recruiting and scholarship development. Their sister Tiffany (8th child) would serve as secretary for a critical time and the entire family has supported and helped it grow to be what it is today.

Both Clark & Ron followed Gary's footsteps professionally teaching in the Church Educational System and as such would be the primary directors. Ron began teaching in Seminary & Institutes in 1981 and in 1997 would join the BYU-Idaho Religion Faculty until his retirement in 2021. When BYU-I switched to a 3-semester system in 2001 his teaching schedule would restrict his ability to direct Tours and Clark took over full responsibility for directing. From 2001 to the present Clark has directed over 60+ Tours to the Holy Land and over 25+ Church History Tours (including 20+ Humanitarian Tours).

Clark taught Seminary & Institute for 20 years (1992-2012) and would get remarried and also retire early from the Church Educational System and dedicate full time attention to expanding Tour offerings leading up to the 20th Anniversary of Anderson Tours in 2017.
